It has been more than 2 months since my dear Dwight left us and went home to his savior Jesus.  I miss him every minute.  The notice in the paper was brief and feel the need to share more about this special person to all of us who knew him here.  Dwight was born to Bessie Smith Matlack and Justin Matlack at home in Vienna, WV.  He went to school, graduated from PHS, enlisted in the U.S. Navy and upoon his retirement he returned to Vienna.  Dwight served in the Navy for 25 yeears and retired as a Navy Chief Hospital Corpsman.  Dwight served in many areas of the world, some that he talked about were Crete, a mission trip to American Somoa, Pearl Harbor, Bureau of Medicine in D.C., Bethesda Hospital in Maryland, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Japan.  Where he didn't talk about was his three tours in Vietnam.  Dwight came home to help care for his Mother, after which he worked at several area businesses until his full retirement in 2003.  Dwight is survived by his wife Kathy Koon Matlack, his son Patrick Matlack and his wife Tina and son Scott.  Step sons Michael Wiggins and wife Theresa; Jason Valentine and wife Jennefer.  Grandchildren Tori Valentine and Jacob Valentine.  Brother David Matlack and his wife Diana; a sister in law Ardyce Matlack; several cousins, nieces and nephews.   Family that passed before him were his parents, a brother Norman Matlack.
