

He was born March 7, 1939 in Winifrede, WV, a son to the late Virgil “Ray” White and Pearline Evans White.
Gene worked for the Local 80 Insulators, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a Baptist by faith and attended New England Baptist Church. Gene enjoyed hunting and fishing, cheering on his Mountaineers, watching Gunsmoke, bowling with his league, and spending time with family and grandchildren. He especially loved family vacations and traveling to visit loved ones, always valuing the time spent making memories together. He will be remembered for his loyalty, love of family, and the quiet joy he found in life’s simple moments.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 63 years, Carolyn Fleming White; son, Scott White; daughters, Katrina (Doug) Magee, Twila (Travis) Nicholas; grandsons, Drew, Will; granddaughters, Claire, Sophie, Abby, Lexi, Anna, Haley, Kaley and Alice
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tom White; beloved aunts, Opal Strickland, Locie Mullins and his brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 1 PM Saturday February 7, 2026 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Frank Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service from 11 AM to 1 PM at the funeral home.
