
Fred Allen Ross, 74, of Parkersburg, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Oct. 18, 2010 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.
He was born Feb. 3, 1936 in Cairo, WV, a son of the late Grover C. and Sadie Paugh Ross. He graduated from Pennsboro High School in 1954 and served in the U.S. Navy in VF171 aboard the Franklin D. Roosevelt CVA 42 and the USS Forstall CVA 59. He was an employee of E.I. DuPont for 39 years, retiring in 1998. He attended The Celebration Center of Belpre, OH, and was an avid reader and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Fred is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Cameron Ross and their two daughters, Julie Sallee (Milton) of Washington, WV and Lori Westbrook (John II) of Parkersburg; two grandchildren, Amber Sallee and Logan Sallee; two brothers, Walter Ross of Parkersburg and Harold Ross of Athens, OH; three sisters, Elizabeth Duckworth and Barbara Waggoner, both of Parkersburg, and Rose Sprague of Hopewell, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Homer, William, George, Clyde, Grover II, and Joseph.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
