He was born August 8, 1941 in Parkersburg, a son of the late James and Clara Province Mercer. Jack enjoyed the outdoors and loved hunting and fishing.
He is survived by four sisters, Mary Lyons, Ida Morrow, Ethel Smith, and Donna Houston; and a large, loving extended family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Clarence Mercer, Samuel Mercer, and three as children; and three sisters, Ellen Perry, Mildred Elliott, and Betty Harris.
Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Rev. Jerry Caplinger officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
