He was born January 29, 1922, in Parkersburg, a son to the late Arle and Orie Burton. He retired from DuPont after serving many years as a mechanic. He was a veteran of the US Navy and a member of the Marrtown Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty A. Burton, along with two brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his children, Pamela L. McGinness of Vienna, Terri L. Horne of NC, and James P. Burton (Myra) of Knoxville, TN; three granddaughters, Leslie A. Rowland (Steven), Sara E. Burton, and Rebecca H. Burton; two great-grandsons, Matthew and Nicholas Rowland; one brother, Andrew J. Burton of Montgomery, AL, along with many other extended family.
Graveside service will be Wed., August 21, 2013, 11 am at Hopewell Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tues., August 20, 2013 from 6-8 pm at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg.
