

He was born Apr. 27, 1924 in Nobel County, OH, a son of the late Wallace and Bertha Stengel Hanson. He was a 1942 graduate of Dexter City High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the 10th Mountain Division during WWII. He retired from Borg Warner as an instrument mechanic. He was a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge, VFW, and a 50 year member of the Belpre Masonic Lodge #609.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Hanson; five sons, Gregory Hanson of W. Hartford, CT, Edwin Hanson of Owings, MD, Timothy Hanson of Huntersville, NC, and Larry and Charles Ball, both of Little Hocking, OH; one daughter, Kathie Ball of Little Hocking, OH; five grandchildren, David, Amy, Tasha, Kayla, and Cody; three great-grandchildren, Austin, Abby, and Tyler; three brothers, Lawrence, Vernon, and Dale Hanson; and one sister, Margie Calvert.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne “Pete” Hanson and one sister, Irene Hanson.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. A reception will be held at the Belpre Masonic Temple following the graveside services.
Visitation will be Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home followed by Masonic Rites by the Belpre Lodge.
