Jon was born to the late Richard Kennon Carpenter and Linda Friesel Carpenter on March 23, 1974 in Parkersburg.
A graduate of Parkersburg South High School, Jon was active in JROTC, joining the Air Force after graduation. He served 7 years at North Charleston AFB, SC.
He is survived by his mother Linda Carpenter of Parkersburg, daughter Raelynn Brinker of Parkersburg, sister Dyan Carpenter of Pensacola, FL, maternal grandmother Helen Yarnell of Parkersburg, and chosen family Mel Brinker of Vienna, a couple of aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins.
Jon was preceded in death by his father, Richard Carpenter, maternal grandfather Clyde Yarnell, and paternal grandparents Ken and Irene Carpenter.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the PSHS JROTC Booster Club or a Veteran organization of your choice.
Services will be at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, April 13, 2026 at 1 p.m. Visitation will be on Monday at the funeral home from 11 am to 1pm. Cremation will follow per the request of the family.
