

Larry Ray Newlon, 86, of Parkersburg, WV, passed away peacefully, at Eagle Point, on Saturday morning, May 9,2026, with his family by his side. He was born November 25,1939, at home, in Harrisville, WV. He was the son of M. Kenneth and Nancy M. Newlon.
Larry served in the U.S. Air Force, for 5 years and spent his time in Japan, where he had an opportunity to climb Mount Fuji. Returning home, he met his wife, Mary F. Miller
McCullough, and married in 1964. They were married for 58 years, until her passing in 2022.
He is survived by one daughter, Deborah Newlon Beall (Carl). of Parkersburg, and two step- children, Pam Joy (Jeff Wilson), of Mineral Wells, and Dan and Cathy McCullough, of Wilmington, North Carolina. One grandson, Tyler P. Hines, of Houston Texas, and step granddaughters, Megan (Corey) Longfellow, and Christine Wilson, along with nephew, Mike Newlon (Tracy). He also loved his 12-year old, Russian Blue cat, and faithful companion, Smoky Ray, who now resides with his daughter
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mary Lou Burchard (Chuck), and nephew, Kevin Newlon, all of Parkersburg, along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He enjoyed traveling every chance he could, with his family and took great pride in his yearly trips, each May, to the Indianapolis 500. He attended more than 60 plus Indy 500's, during his lifetime, with his nephews, and their children, carrying on the family tradition. He also enjoyed camping, hunting, canoeing and hosting the annual family, 4th of July picnic for many years. He was a Christian, and served the Lord most of his life, living by example the best way he knew how. He was a member of Lynn, St. Church of Christ, serving for most of his life, until the last few years, attending Mineral Wells, Church of Christ.
He retired from Amerigas, where he delivered propane for over 50 years. He never knew a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need. He will be greatly missed, but we rest in the knowledge that he is no longer in pain, and is free of the dementia, that took so much from him, and will spend eternity with his Lord, and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The funeral services will be held at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 1934 Dupont Road, Parkersburg, WV on Monday May 18th, 2026 at 1 PM with Ron Loughery officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be one hours prior to the service from 12 PM to 1 PM at the funeral home.
