Mary Alice Friel Riddle, age 93, formerly of Wilmington, NC, passed away peacefully at her home in Roebuck, SC on Friday, January 1, 2016 following an extended illness. He was born near Richmond, VA on April 2, 1922. Mary Alice was the daughter of the late Patrick T. and Emily Caldwell Friel. Formerly employed in the cosmetics industry, Mary Alice enjoyed painting, knitting, spending time with friends and family, volunteering, and helping people. She attended Winter Park Methodist Church in Wilmington, NC before relocating to South Carolina. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Riddle, Jr., originally from Reedy, WV; a brother, Joe Friel; and sisters Charlotte Childress, Sandy Morrissette, and Dorothy Ann Cathey. She is survived by one sister, Patricia (Patsy) McPheeters, of Spartanburg, SC in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 1934 Dupont Road, Parkersburg, WV. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens cemetery in Parkersburg.
