The worst thing about living, is saying goodbye to our loved ones. Dick was so very special to our family. He and Martha have been our neighbors for over 20 years. Night or day, Dick watched over us, always. I remember years ago we started a little garden and he came over, eager to help. We thanked him with the vegetables it produced. When we worked on our lawn, or our car, or house, again, Dick came running over in a flash, asking what he could do to help us. One time we had set out a broken TV for the trash and he came running over, demanding he fix it. And sure enough he did. Although he had became so frail, he still was eager to do anything he could for us, to be a good neighbor. Dick was a kind and wonderful person, people like him seem far between these days, those you share mutual respect, help, and kindness with. He watched our little boy grow up to a young man, and adored him throughout the years. They shared a special friendship. I wish I could've told him how much I appreciated everything he was and everything he did. I hate that he's gone, it's a darker world now. But I know he's up there in heaven probably asking how he can help saint Peter at the gates.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Words won't take away the pain, but having someone as special as he was, hopefully brings you comfort.

Thank you for being a pivotal person in my life.
Your words were always guiding.
You opened your home to me as a youth. I will never forget you.
We laughed always.
Go Rest High On That Mountain.
