

He was born Nov. 29, 1921 in Wirt County, a son to the late George G. and Mary E. Wix. He was a graduate of Wirt Co. High School, where he was quarterback of the football team and was a veteran of the US Navy serving in WWII in both the European and Pacific Theatres. Following his service he worked as a coalminer, worked for Union Carbide Metals, and then retired from Borg Warner-GE Plastics after 27 years. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and playing golf.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary K. Wix, son, Daniel Paul Wix, brothers, Paul E. Wix, and Ralph G, Wix, and sisters, Ruby Daugherty, Bessie Bargeloh, Susie Pell, Nina Peterman, Hazel Hoffman, and Annabell Johnson.
He is survived by his daughter, Cheri Hill (David) of Cambrige, OH, sons, Craig Wix (Bonnie) of Parkersburg, and Eric Wix of Charleston, SC, step sons, Charles Cox (Becky) of Palm Bay, FL, and Larry Cox (Kim) of Washington, WV, 15 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren, and former daughter in law and caregiver, Connie Reynolds, along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Service will be Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, 10 am at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens with Veterans Rites by American Legion Post 15.
Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 15, 2013 from 4-8 pm at the funeral home.
