Born: February 4, 1937
Shirley Atkinson went to visit our heavenly father on December 25, 2020. She was the daughter of the late Franklin J. Peck and Mildred Peck Hendrick. She was the beloved wife of Robert (Speedy) Atkinson of 61 years and the loving mother of five children: Connie VanDale, Dottie Springer, Jackie DeProspero, Robert Allan Atkinson and Larry Atkinson.
She was the cherished grandmother of 12 grandchildren: David Havens, Robert, Nicki and Heather Atkinson, Tim, Shane, and Joshua VanDale, Scottie Cunningham, Michael, Dylan, and Ian DeProspero and Mika Kovic.
She was the doting great-grandmother of 3 great-grandchildren: Sydney Reynolds, Leo Kovic and Zoey DeProspero.
She is survived by her brother Charles Peck and sister Charlotte Williams of Parkersburg, WV. She also has a sister in Christ, Barbara Ellender and a number of friends at the Willows Nursing home where she volunteered.
She is preceded in death by her husband Robert (Speedy) Atkinson, son Robert Allan Atkinson and 11 brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 29th from 6 to 8 and Wednesday, December 30th 12 p.m. until the time of service at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. December 30 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
