David Lorrie Meanwell

Dave passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Savior on April 19th, 2026 surrounded by his family.

He was predeceased by his parents and brother. He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley, and his boys Shane, Brad and Jeff (Laurie) by a previous marriage.

Dave was born on January 25, 1946 in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba.

The family moved to Lloydminster, Sask. then to Edmonton, Alberta where he spent most of his growing/school years. Later, he moved to Vancouver where he worked at various electronic companies. He was a salesman with RAE Electronics in 1971 and transferred back to Edmonton in 1984-1988. He moved back to Vancouver with ITT Grinnell, then left in 1990 and opened Cardinal Electronics/Simmonds in Burnaby, B.C. as branch manager. He remarried in 1994 to Shirley Woodhouse and lived in Coquitlam/Port Coquitlam. Work transferred him to Calgary, Alberta in 2003 where he was Territorial Sales Manager with Cooper Hand Tools until he took early retirement in 2009. In 2011 Dave and Shirley moved to Qualicum Beach, Vancouver Island.

Dave’s love for the Lord found him serving in various capacities at First Alliance Church in Calgary then Parksville Baptist Church in Parksville. Dave will be remembered by his generous heart and welcoming spirit. He loved life, the Lord, his family and friends.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to either BC Cancer Society or Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated.
