David Wayne
December 4th, 1960 – April 10th, 2023
Dave Sundberg, beloved husband of Pauline, currently of Coombs, B.C. passed away in Coombs on Monday April 10th, 2023 at the age of 62 years.
He was the loving husband of Pauline (nee Oldfield) for 40 years (or as Dave would say 50 with the windchill); father of Billy Sundberg (Corol), Ryan Sundberg (Paula), Jill Woytas (Jesse – predeceased), Shauna Smith (Ryan), Kyle Sundberg (Kyla), Kimberly Newman (Matthew), and Herc (spoiled puppy); grandfather of Trey, Tristin, Adria, A.J., Kaylen, Avery, Latham, Taylor, Darnell, Greyson, Bromley, and Henley; brother of Brian Sundberg (MaryRose) and Gary Sundberg (Helene); brother-in-law of George Oldfield (Julie), Richard Oldfield (Dianne), Marsha Dawley (Ron), John Oldfield (Tracey), and Leanne Willmore.
Dave was born in Edmonton, AB where he spent his early childhood. He moved to Yellowknife in 1970 where he lived for the next 50 years. There he met Pauline, the love of his life, and together they raised their six children. Dave spent 20 years as a well respected lieutenant at the Yellowknife Fire Department. He also enjoyed his time with NWT Air and First Air as a load master on the Hercules aircrafts, before retiring with Pauline to Vancouver Island. Dave was a brilliant jack of all trades and he had a plethora of knowledge and passion for problem solving. If he didn’t have the answer he would figure one out. He loved taking things apart and putting them together, along with building things, and teaching his gained knowledge with those around him. Some of his many passions were planes, cars, hunting, fishing, woodworking, along with scuba diving and travelling the world. He will be forever remembered for his quiet nature, great sense of humour, quick wit, helping hand and affection for Pauline.
A Celebration of Life will take place with a location and date to be confirmed at a later time. The family would like to thank everyone for their support, thoughtfulness, and compassion during this difficult time. Dave will be forever loved and missed.
