Born on June 28, 1934 in St. Bonafice, Manitoba and raised in Transcona, Manitoba Ted is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Joan. He is also survived by his three children Glendon Keith (Della), Lorne Harold (Gay), and Sandra Gail as well as six grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Ted was predeceased by his parents Harold and Mable Smith and his three siblings Bruce, Denis and Carol.
At an early age, Ted made his way to Vancouver Island to work for the Canadian National Railway Company. After earning his Power Engineering certification, he moved on to work in various power plants in the lower mainland and, in 1964, started his career with Reichold Chemical Company as a Process Engineer in Port Moody. In 1966 he was entrusted to oversee the building of a new facility in Kamloops, BC where upon completion, he remained as plant manager until his retirement in 1985. Soon after, he and his wife purchased Golden Dawn Mobile Home Park in Parkville, BC and later moving to Qualicum Beach BC remaining on the Island until his death.
In 1966 Ted became an active member of the Kinsmen’s Club, later becoming a long-time member of the Masonic Lodge. Ted was past Grand Master of the Kamloops Lodge #10 (A.F.A.M. of BC) and held membership in the Okanogan Preceptory, the Scottish Rite, the Giza Temple and the Kamloops Scooter Patrol.
