

Survived by a brother, Tony (Teresa); two daughters, Christine (Derek) of St Albert and Eileen (Trevor) of Qualicum Beach; grandchildren Julie, Lynne (Nigel), Anthony (Nicole), Sharon (Shawn), and Danie; and six great grandchildren Ben, Adam, Alexandra, Nicholas, Chelsea and Jasmine; sister in law, Doreen and niece Deborah. Joan was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Gilbert, and brother, John.
Joan was born in London England worked in millinery, dressmaking, and in the London Fire Service during the Second World War. Joan and Gil immigrated to Canada in 1982 and lived in Parksville where she spent her final years in Cokely Manor and Stanford Place. Joan was very proficient in dressmaking, sewing, quilting, knitting, and taught her skills to many people. She was involved with many groups and organizations in England and Canada and enjoyed crafts, sports, and music.
Joan will be missed by her family and many friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Cokely Manor and Stanford Place, Mary Connelly, Dr Desai and Dr. Henderson and the many people who have helped Joan in her final years.
