Born in Milton, Stoke-on-Trent, England, Linda spent much of her childhood growing up in the Potteries region. She had many fond memories of her youth which she recorded in her recently published childhood memoir.
Following high school, Linda completed a teacher training course at the Portsmouth College of Education, where she met her husband, Robin Fullalove. Linda and Robin married in 1964. They immigrated to Canada in 1968 and spent three adventurous years in rural Saskatchewan. In 1971, they moved to Calgary where they raised their three children, Ben, Claire, and Greg.
During her years in Calgary, Linda enjoyed hiking in the Rockies and exploring the natural beauty of Alberta. Many summers were also spent camping as a family on Vancouver Island or travelling back to England to visit relatives.
Linda was a dedicated and caring teacher to young children for more than 40 years. She found great fulfillment teaching kindergarten and grade one students over the course of her career with the Calgary Board of Education. Linda was also a life-long learner, completing her MEd as well as studying writing, Italian and Spanish.
Upon her retirement, Linda and Robin moved to Parksville, B.C.
While living on Vancouver Island, Linda led a happy, full and active life and was deeply involved in the community. Among her many interests, she enjoyed reading, traveling, bird watching, hiking, baking, gardening, quilting and writing. Hiking twice a week was a constant joy in her life as was nurturing her beautiful garden. She often walked along her favourite beaches drawn to the calm of the ocean. She also enjoyed attending classical music concerts and became very interested in watercolour painting. Linda had a strong social conscience, supporting environmental activism and assisting newcomers to Canada.
Throughout her life, Linda made many dear friends on whom she left a lasting impression. She enjoyed cooking delicious homemade meals for others as well as went out of her way to support those in need. Her beauty and warmth, gentle and caring nature, intellectual curiosity, and enthusiasm for life will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Linda is survived by her three children, Ben (Susan Menzies), Claire Jacquin, and Greg; her two sisters, Valerie and Janet (Gerry McKeating), and her brother Geoff. Linda was predeceased by her husband Robin, son-in-law Marc Jacquin, and daughter-in-law Gemira McClary.
A celebration of Linda's life will take place in Calgary at a later date.
