It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Erin Blunt, a devoted partner, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. Erin passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones on January 29, 2025.
Erin was born in Port Alberni, British Columbia, Canada. She was an outdoor enthusiast who had a deep connection and love for nature and water. She appreciated all the natural treasures our earth has to offer and spent her days outside adventuring on Vancouver Island with her friends and family.
She was an avid paddle boarder. She would paddle year round on the Pacific Ocean and it did not matter if it were raining or even snowing. She would often paddle alone but had an amazing group of SUP friends and her grandsons who she would go on excursions with. It gave her “Vitamin Sea” as she would say.
Erin enjoyed mountain biking and spent countless hours riding trails at Hammerfest and Cumberland. She was an amazing rider and being out on the trails soothed her soul.
Her smile and energy was infectious and touched so many people in this world. She adored her dogs and you could always count on running into her and her fur babies at the beaches or on the trails in Nanoose Bay.
Boating, swimming, hiking, biking, paddle boarding, tennis, pickleball, basketball, weightlifting, yoga, running, waterskiing, skiing… she did it all and was one heck of an athlete.
Erin is survived by her mother, Joy Kurtz, her husband, Ron Blunt, her brother, Mark, her sister, Tammy, her daughters, Lindsey(Todd), Bronwen(Lee), her son, Cody. Her three grandsons, Lior, Korbin, and Shai who brought her immeasurable happiness and immense joy.
A private ceremony will be held for immediate family next week and a celebration of life will be held in the summer at Erin’s favourite place… the beach, of course! Details to come.
If you have any memories, photos or stories to share about Erin, please post on her Facebook page or email her daughter Bronwen ([email protected])
A special thank you to all of the staff in Palliative Care at NRGH. Your care and compassion towards Erin was greatly appreciated by her and her family during her 6 weeks there.
Erin loved the sand on her toes and the sun on her nose. The beach was her place to be! She’s gone too soon and will be greatly missed ❤️
