Mary was born in Nanaimo, B.C. to William and Lillian Cottle. She was the eldest of four children. Survived by her sister May Lund (nee Cottle) and sister-in-law Shirley Cottle. Predeceased by her siblings, sister Barbara Brice (nee Cottle) and brother George Cottle. Mary was a wonderful researcher and lover of history and opera. She graduated from Vancouver Island University and later lovingly cared for both her parents until their passing. She was an avid reader and accomplished gardener. She took an early interest in natural and alternative health. She passed just one week before her 100th birthday and was celebrated for her long and compassionate life. Mary is an eternal gentle soul that will be missed by those who loved her including, her nieces Diane Lund, Jennifer Hamner, Lori Phillips, Cindy Brice and nephews Douglas Cottle and Richard Cottle. Thank you to the staff of Stanford Seniors Village for their loving care. On the night she passed the sky lit up with the Northern Lights ushering her home with a spectacular light show for a life well lived.
