It is with great sadness that the family of David shares the news of his passing. He died peacefully with his wife by his side at Trillium Lodge Hospice after fighting a courageous battle with Cancer. He leaves behind his loving wife, Rosalie; brothers, Bill of Edmonton, AB, Jim (Sylvia) of Sparwood, BC, Jerry (Ina) of Bali, Indonesia; sister, Evelyn (David) of Fort Saskatchewan, AB; brother-in-law, Rick Traber; sons, Michael (Sandra) and Darren (Harj); daughter, Michelle; stepdaughter, RaeAnne (Brian); his dearly loved grandchildren, Jordan, Cayne, Cole, Matisse, Miah, and Ben; as well as his many wonderful friends, and his special angel, Reine.
Dave's career in the meat business spanned 50 years. First, as a butcher in his own shop in Edmonton, Alberta and then as a Meat Manager for Safeway Canada. Dave transferred from Edmonton to Calgary and from Calgary to Vancouver before retirement in his very favourite place, Qualicum Beach.
Dave was an avid archer and a member of the Vancouver Island Sharp Shooters League and love to "shoot paper".
The family would like to thank Dr Thor Fridrikkson, Dr Marlene Van der Weyde, all of the home care nurses, and the lovely, caring staff at Trillium Hospice for their compassion and support during this difficult time.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Dave's honour at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 10, 2016 in the Serenity Room at Yates Chapel, 1000 Allsbrook Road in Parksville, BC.
