He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sandra (Scott); sons, Chris (Veronica), Ben and Jeremy; grandchildren, Andrew (Amy), Lauren (Riley) and Robert (Rebecca); and his newest little love Daisy Nora Mitchell, his great granddaughter; sisters, Carol Malysh (Nick), Myrna McKeating (Lorne), Pat Walker (Garry), Gay Schmidt (Norb), Gail Bennett; brother, George (Jenn); many nieces and nephews; and lots of friends.
Butch lived in Richmond, BC until 1957 when his family moved to Ladner BC. In 1980, he moved his family to Errington, BC.
Butch was a commercial fisherman for most of his life but his passion was his hunting trips with his friends and his garden which he planted every year, first to feed his family and then to share with his friends. He took great pleasure in being able to supply everyone with tomatoes, rhubarb and squash.
In 2000, he joined the Parksville Lawn Bowling Club and spent many an hour there helping to build, haul top soil and whatever was needed from someone with a truck and strong muscles.
Most important to Butch was his family. He loved them all unconditionally.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Royal Jubilee Hospital, 6 South, for their care and compassion during Butch’s stay there.
The family will not be having a service at this time. Those wishing to honour Butch’s memory may do so by making a donation to a charity of your choice.
