Murray is predeceased by his wife, Katherine (Judy) Ross, and his parents, Leslie and Isabelle Ross. He is survived by his children, Sarah Ross (David L’Heureux) and David Ross, and his siblings, Mike Ross (Carolyn); Don Ross (Jackie), Barb Schmidt (Doug) and Gordon Ross (Connie), as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Murray was born in Moose Jaw and remained a true Saskatchewan farm boy at heart throughout his life; despite living in BC for years, he retained his love for prairie landmarks like the iconic Saskatchewan grain elevators.
Dad was a car enthusiast, a lifelong curler and an avid CBC listener. He could always venture an educated and passionate political opinion and often took the stance as a staunch defender of the “little guy”. Dad spent many years as a volunteer, fundraising for the Heart and Stroke Foundation and giving his time to causes he saw worthy.
As a father, Dad was a professional at tying hockey skates, putting up our family tent trailer in the pouring rain with the greatest of patience, building cardboard box forts and bragging (embarrassingly) to anyone who would listen about his kids’ achievements.
A small celebration of life will be held for family members in June 2019 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, which will be Dad’s final resting place as we take him home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Dad’s name would be gratefully accepted.
