With extremely heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Nikki Haftner on February 27th, 2025 at the Comox Valley Hospital after a long and tough 10-year cancer battle. Nikki’s life and her fight showed everyday what a strong, courageous, and beautiful woman she was inside and out.
Nikki was born on Nov 27, 1985 in Nanaimo BC and at not even 40 yrs old, gained her angel wings on February 27, 2025.
Nikki is survived by her husband Brian Haftner, her step sons Jayden (Maddie) and Nathan.
Herparents,PeterMurphy,LoriMurphy(Dennis), siblings Ryan Murphy (Colette), Kyle Murphy (Hillary), Katelyn Murphy (Ryan). Her nephews and nieces Daxton, Ryker, Lori-Anne, Gydeon, Clancy, Walker, Anna, Dawson and Laura-Jean. Nikki also had her fur babies who she loved more than anything, Tucker, Hunter, and Rusty.
Nikki was a devoted wife, a loving and supportive stepmom, daughter, precious sister, aunt, and friend Nikki first moved from Parksville to Victoria for a few years where she was a server and living her life to the fullest, enjoying it for what it was. She moved back to Parksville and later met and started seeing Brian in 2008 where she started her career in a realty office in Parksville at Sutton Realty. They lived in Parksville together for a few years, before moving their careers to Courtenay BC where they made their life together there. She started her job at Royal Lepage doing administration. She loved it very much and was very good at what she did and was a valuable team member.
Nikki enjoyed being at the lake camping, wakeboarding, quadding, fishing and hunting and exploring with her husband, spending the most quality time together.
She loved laying in the sun with a good book, listening to her music, gardening, she also had a bit of an online shopping addiction.
Nikki was an adventurous girl who loved to travel and enjoy everything life had to offer. She loved being around and spending time with the people who loved her.
After her diagnosis in 2015 her life was forever changed, as she wasn’t able to do a lot of the things she loved, but that did not stop her from fighting every single day.
Nikki continued to surround herself with her close friends and immediate family who fought along side of her and helped to keep her spirit alive.
She still spent the summers with her family at Great Central Lake and tried to go on as many holidays with Brian as she could. Because Nikki was not able to have kids of her own, she felt very fortunate for her stepsons and her nieces and nephews who held a huge spot in her heart, and theirs. It was her greatest blessing to be part of their lives and she has left amazing memories for everyone of them.
In her final week, Nikki was flooded with her closest family and friends coming to give her love and show her their support and Nikki truly felt how loved she was.
Nikki had an infectious smile that could light up a room, she touched so many lives and was an important person to so many. Her strength and bravery were unlike any other.
Her warm, loving, wild and fiery personality will be missed beyond measure but never will be forgotten. Her journey on earth ended much too soon but we will continue to celebrate her life that was lived to the fullest, a legacy that inspired anyone who knew her and a heart that loved with no limits.
Spread your wings and be free our beautiful angel, we love you.
