Survived by loving partner, Diana Burrill; son, Anthony (Amanda) Stephens; grandson, Brody; mother, Doris Stephens; brother, Hugh (Sylvia) Stephens; sister, Patricia McDonald; and many nieces and nephews.
Rick spent most of his life in the Parksville area where his many friends were entertained by his whit and wisdom - he could recite poetry and Shakespeare, or tell jokes for hours.
Those close to Rick knew the demons he battled. Through it all, he remained a kind man who will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held in Rick's honour at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Yates Funeral Chapel, 1000 Allsbrook Road in Parksville. Reception to follow.
