It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sandra “Sandi” Mary Anderson. Sandi passed away at the Nanaimo Palliative Care Unit with her husband Victor “Vic” by her side on March 17, 2023, after a fierce year-long battle with cancer. Sandi will be dearly missed by her husband of 46 years and her two daughters, Heather (Rad) in Nanaimo, and Lindsey (Bill) in Edmonton, and her many family members and friends.
Sandi was born in North Vancouver to Esterino and Amelia Giuliani and was raised in North Vancouver with her younger brother Dan. Sandi met the love of her life, Vic, in 1975 and they were married in 1977. They raised two daughters together and moved throughout western Canada early in their marriage before settling down in North Vancouver. Sandi loved to welcome people into her heart and home and as a result, had many “adopted” children from the friends of her daughters.
Sandi loved travelling to Arizona where she and Vic had a second home. They travelled throughout the United States and Europe. Sandi was an amazing baker and cook and loved to bring joy to people through food. Christmas was her favourite time of year, and she knew how to bring the Christmas spirit to those around her. Sandi enjoyed going to the gym and Zumba was her favourite class. She loved to dance and could often be found tearing up the dance floor at parties and gatherings. Sandi loved laughing and spending time with her family and friends – if you were in her presence you were guaranteed to have a good time!
Sandi was a beacon of light with a generous, faithful spirit and brought peace to those around her. We know Sandi is in heaven with her heavenly family. She will forever be missed, and never forgotten.
On June 2 at 11:30AM, we invite you to celebrate Sandi’s life at the Church of the Ascension in Parksville, BC (887 Wembley Road V9P 2E6). A reception will follow the service. Before she passed away, Sandi requested that her celebration of life be a joyful one and asked that people attend in colourful clothing. So please wear something bright and cheerful to celebrate Sandi’s bright and cheerful personality. If you are able to attend Sandi’s memorial, please RSVP by May 19, 2023 to Vic at [email protected].
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in memory of Sandra M. Anderson to the Palliative Care Unit through the Nanaimo and District Hospital Foundation:
