Passed peacefully January 19th, 2026, in the home she loved. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years Robin Albert Kennedy. Left to mourn her passing are her four children Kathy (Rob), Bruce (Deborah), Don (Deanna) & Barb. Her two grandchildren Jeremiah and Georgia. Her sister Rita and numerous nieces and nephews.
Growing up the second youngest of thirteen children in Bruno Saskatchewan, Mom came to B.C. to visit her brother where she met and fell in love with her one true love, Al. After being married in 1955 they settled on the homestead Sylvia still lived on. With so many good neighbors and great memories she was forever grateful to be able to remain in her home till the end. She contributed to the community she loved through such organizations as the P.T.A. and the C.W.L.
During their near 60 years of marriage Mom and Dad travelled to many places including England, Australia, Yukon, numerous trips to Saskatchewan to visit family and into Manitoba and a tour of the eastern provinces. The trip to PEI was a particular favorite and after Dad’s retirement they spent so much time exploring all over Vancouver Island.
The things that brought her the most pleasure were a genuine love for her garden, her beautiful flowers and her birds! She loved going to see local plays, playing Bingo, whist drives, dancing with Dad and sharing meals with her family. Sylvia had a strong dedication to her family, which was very evident through her home baking, canning and the fact that we rarely ate a slice of bought bread.
There will be no funeral service by request.
