Walter Burton Sweet

Feb 13, 1942 - July 1, 2024

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Walter Sweet on July 1, 2024.  He will be sorely missed by his wife, Glenda Sweet, his brother Bob Sweet, his sister Evelyn Sweet, his son Cameron Sweet, daughters Jocelyn Sweet & Gillian Verozinis & granddaughters Sophia & Valerie Verozinis and many dear friends.

Walter was admired and loved for his intellect, humor, steadfast work ethic and love of his family.  Originally from Scotland, he moved to Ontario spending many years with General Motors from a starting position to executive management which entailed traveling the world.  His volunteerism with Kinsmen saw him receive a “Life Member Award” and the “Silver Jubilee medal” commemorating the 25th anniversary of the accession of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second to the throne.

Walter moved to BC, married Glenda in 1999, eventually settling in Qualicum Beach.  They had many adventures on their boat, the best being a trip from Mill Bay along the Straight of Juan de Fuca, into Barkey Sound. Walter was a lover of sports, in particular soccer.

Walter joined the Qualicum Beach Legion, made friends easily, quickly became a board member advancing into the Presidents position and continued volunteering until he could no longer.  He loved the Legion and was with them for over 10 years.

Walter was at peace and left once he knew he had done all that was needed.
