Loved and deeply missed William (Bill) Peek passed away at Trillium Hospice on April 1, 2022, with his wife by his side.
He was predeceased by his sister Willy and parents Wim and Marie Peek.
He is survived by his loving wife Vinetta (nee Engel), his son Trent (wife Andrea), his daughter Tracy (husband Tom) and grandchildren Dylan and Jordan.
Bill was born in Alkmaar, The Netherlands on June 8, 1950, and moved to Canada in 1953. They were sponsored by a family member living in Edmonton Alberta and made the trek from Nova Scotia to Edmonton by train. Bill went to school in Edmonton, finalizing his education at the University of Alberta. He then went on to become a CGA Certified General Accountant – now CPA. He was always active in sports and was on the high school football team where he successfully courted his future wife. He loved all sports – especially football, hockey, and golf.
He married Vinetta on August 7, 1971, and they just celebrated their 50th anniversary last year. They moved from Edmonton to North Vancouver in 1985 and then onto Whiterock. Bill had a successful career in accounting until their retirement in 2018 at which time they moved to Craig Bay, Parksville.
They both loved travel and at last count travelled to fifty-nine countries - throughout Europe, South Africa, South and Central America, North America, Australia, and Asia. Their most recent trips were to South Africa, Spain, and Dubai for 3 months in 2018, a trip to Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia in 2019 and a trip down the Amazon ending in Buenos Aires in 2020 – all of which were on Bill’s bucket list.
Bill was a sincere and caring person who always put others before himself. His family meant everything to him, and he doted over his grandchildren. His dry sense of humour was loved by all.
Being a person who loved life and always looked at the positive - we will be having a Celebration of His Life early this summer as per his wishes.
