William David WAKEFIELD

William David Wakefield passed away peacefully at home on October 3rd, 2016.  Bill was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and spent his career working for Fairmont Hotels.  He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Lisa; his son, Peter (Marla) of Calgary; his grandchildren, Nathan and Chelsea; his special dog, “Lucy”; his brother, Robert (Rosemary) of Vancouver; his brother, John (Nadia) of Richmond; his sister, Jane (Ken) of Vancouver; his mother, Helen Patricia Wakefield (nee Manning) of Vancouver; and his good friends, Doug and Diane Markle, Karin and John Groeneveld, Eric and Nancy Blasko, Judy and Mel Semmler, and Sharon and Tom Shepard.  Bill was predeceased by his father, George Wakefield.

The family would like to thank the occupational therapist Susan Clifford for her excellent care and Dr. M. Van der Weyde and all the members of the Palliative team who assisted with Bill’s care.  A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on November 13th, 2016 at Ryerson United Church, 2195 West 45th Avenue in Vancouver.  In lieu of flowers, please consider honouring Bill's memory by making a donation in his name to the A.L.S.
