Allen Eugene Munz, a respected resident of Pasadena, Texas, passed away on June 19, 2025, at the age of 87. He was born on July 8, 1937, to parents J.R. Hodges and Mildred Buchanan and was the brother of John Turner Hodges.
Allen graduated from El Campo High School in 1955 and served in the United States Marine Corps from November 1955 to November 1958. In 1962, he married Betty Stepan in El Campo, Texas. Together, they raised three sons: John Kevin Munz, Blaed Alan Munz, and Derek Steven Munz.
Throughout his career, Allen worked as a TV Repairman in El Campo, Texas, in 1959. He later joined the Texas Highway Department in Houston as a licensed surveyor, worked at RW Patrick & Associates in South Houston, and continued his career at J Morales Engineering in Pasadena until his passing.
Allen had a passion for hunting, playing golf with his sons and grandchildren, and coaching his sons in various sports including basketball, football, baseball, and soccer. Later in life, he developed a love for creating stained glass artwork.
He was a devoted member of Sagemont Baptist Church since 1974. Through his engineering and surveying work, he contributed to the construction of many church additions. Allen was actively involved in the church's youth bus ministry during the 1980s and 1990s, supported widows through a dedicated program from the 2000s until his death, and participated in the Royal Ambassadors Youth Program. He also led several couples small groups and served as the church-wide Director of couples small groups.
Allen is survived by his beloved wife, Betty Munz; his children, Kevin Munz and wife Sandra, Blaed Munz and wife Sabrea, and Derek Munz and wife Lara; and his grandchildren, Megan Munz, Cullen Munz, Nathan Munz, Macy Hawkins (Jack), Mason Munz, and Madelyn Munz.
He was preceded in death by his father J.R. Hodges, mother Mildred Hodges, brother John Hodges, uncle Carl O’neil, aunt Minnie O’neil, and uncle Gifford Hodges.
Services are scheduled for Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Pasadena Funeral Chapel, located at 2203 Pasadena Blvd, Pasadena, TX 77502. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am. A committal service will take place at Forest Park East Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, TX 77598, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
