

Ed was born on June 5, 1943, in Newcastle, Indiana. He was one of nine children, with five sisters and three brothers. At the age of 18, Ed left home to join the United States Marine Corps. He served four years and four months before where he briefly joined the Army. After his military service, he became a police officer in Cambridge and Hagerstown, Indiana.
Ed later moved to Texas to chase the oilfield life. In 1983, Texas Monthly magazine even featured an article on his decision to come to Texas. He remained in the oilfield until his retirement. Ed was an amazing individual who always went above and beyond for people.
In his free time, he loved riding his motorcycle with friends and supporting local benefits and causes.
He is survived by his daughters, Karisma, Crystal, and Michelle Jones (fiancé, Mickey Beer), Geraldine Fallin (husband, Lucky), and Stephanie Vandermark (wife, Autumn); his life-long friend and mother of his daughters, Jackie Jones; his sisters, Cheryl Humphrey, Connie Caldwell (husband, Roger), and Diane Maddy (husband, Mike); his brothers, Michael Jones (wife, Jennifer), Kevin Groce (wife, Silvia), and Kelly Groce; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Clayton Jones Sr.; his mother, Sadie Jones-Groce; his stepfather, Elwood Groce; his siblings, Jean Dudley and RoseAnn Jones; his grandson, Michael Ryan King; and his son, Ryan O’Hara Jones.
A Memorial Gathering & Visitation will be held at Pasadena Funeral Chapel, located at 2203 Pasadena Blvd, Pasadena, TX 77502, on January 15, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Following this, a Celebration of Life will take place at the same venue from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
The Committal Service will be conducted at Houston National Cemetery, located at 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038, on January 15, 2026, at 1:45.
Ed will be remembered with deep respect, love and fondness by all who knew him.
