March 31, 1945 – January 2, 2025
Félix Ybarra Hinojosa, a devoted son, husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2025, in La Porte, Texas, after a long illness.
Born on March 31, 1945, in Pasadena, Texas, to Lupe Ybarra and Paul Hinojosa, Félix was raised in rural Pasadena, where he learned the values of hard work and family. Both of his parents preceded him in death.
A graduate of Pasadena High School, Félix proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves and excelled as a precision machinist, building a respected career through his dedication and skill.
Félix shared a remarkable life with his beloved wife, Phan Thi Long Hinojosa. Their love story began with letters and culminated in a beautiful wedding in Phan Thiet, Vietnam, uniting two lives and cultures. Together, they built a life filled with love, mutual care, and deep appreciation for one another.
Félix is survived by his six children: Theresa Hinojosa Abner, Félix Hinojosa Jr., Sylvia Hinojosa Copeland, Richard Hinojosa, Barbara Hinojosa, Marie Hinojosa Carroll, and their beloved dog Bruce as well as 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was also a loving brother to Paul Hinojosa, Anna Verastegui, and Eva Howell.
Though Long was not biologically connected to Félix’s children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren, the bond they shared was as strong as family. Together, Felix and Long created a home filled with love and unity.
Félix will be remembered for his warm smile, kind heart, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy of strength, generosity, and joy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
