

Mary D. Salinas passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on July 30, 2016 at the age of 82. She was BOI, born in Galveston, Texas where she lived until she married the love of her life, Paul Salinas, whom she was blessed to share his love for 65 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and aunt who loved to cook, sew, garden, dance, talk on the phone while doodling and spend time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed teaching her children to cook as well as different crafts, volunteered as a Girl Scout troop leader and served as a devoted PTA mom. She worked at LL Pugh Elementary School as a cafeteria cashier and at Weiners Department Store in Denver Harbor before retiring after 20 years. She enjoyed 23 years of retirement with her husband by her side, traveling and enjoying their 10 grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Salinas and their dogs Tootsie & Elvis, daughters, Gloria Salinas (Britt Walters), Tina Chargois (John Chargois), Susan Salinas (Brad Campbell), Carol Sanchez (Leonard Price), Lydia Salinas and Paula Salinas; and her 10 grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her son, Ernest C. Salinas and grandson, Aaron Lee Sanchez.
A visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Wednesday with a rosary following at 7 pm, August 3rd at Funeraria Del Angel, 901 Main St. in Pasadena, Texas 77506. The funeral service will be at 11:30 am on Thursday August 4th at Funeraria Del Angel with burial to follow at Forest Park Lawndale.
Memorial donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association, M. D. Anderson Cancer Center or charity of your choice.
