Minerva “Mimi” (Narvaez) Guerra fell asleep in death on Tuesday, April 27, 2022, after a four-month battle with gastric cancer. She fought tooth and nail to stay alive and although she never admitted that “it was time”, she always expressed her firm belief that if she did pass, she was sure that the Almighty God Jehovah would keep her safe in his memory until it was time to raise her from the dead. She so looked forward to the day when she would be re-united with all her loved ones in paradise, and she let all know that they “better be there”!
Mimi was born August 10, 1958, in Pasadena, TX, blessed with Christian parents, Antonio Narvaez and Maria del Carmen (Cantu) Narvaez, who gave her the greatest gift of all, a relationship with her loving heavenly father, Jehovah. By the time she was 10 years old, Mimi had taken that gift and made it her own, dedicating her life to Jehovah on July 4, 1968.
Some years later, Mimi met the love of her life, Angel “Javi” Guerra. Javi’s brother was dating her best friend, and before long, her best friend would become her sister-in-law. On May 14, 1973, Mimi and Javi were married and began their very own love story. For 49 years, there love grew and matured, although there were many hard times, the good always outweighed the bad.
Together they built a home filled with joy, love and the laughter for their 4 children, Mark, Erica, Miguel, and Jacob. Family was always her priority and she made it her mission to give their children and grandchildren the same gift her parents gave her, a love for Jehovah. Surrounding them with people who would nurture that love, she gave them a foundation they could build on. Her children will tell you that she wanted nothing more than for them to succeed in life and in their service to Jehovah. Mimi built a home that her children and grandchildren always felt welcomed and safe in. She was their rock, but also their warm hug. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for her family, and it showed in everything she said and did.
Although far from perfect, Mimi always saw the good in everyone and tried her best to serve others. She was always ready and willing to listen to and console a heavy heart. Even when she was suffering, she always put others first. It was never about her and how she felt, she wanted to “live” so she could make sure you were ok and had the chance to get close to Jehovah. Her biggest deepest desire was for all of us to serve Jehovah and be in Paradise together.
Mimi was the heartbeat of her family and will be missed deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. She has run her race to the end and is now sleeping safely in her heavenly father’s memory. Let us do all that we can to be there to receive one of her long and tight embraces when she is risen.
