

Oliver Clovis "Buddy" Pentecost passed away December 3, 2025 in Houston, Texas. Born in Ganado, Texas on December 23, 1938, Buddy was the only child of Oliver Leslie Pentecost and Etta Marie (Needam) Pentecost.
He graduated from Ganado High School in 1956. He went on to attend Wharton County Jr College, and later moved to Houston, Texas to pursue a career in Pipe Design. Buddy worked designing oil refineries for companies such as SIP Engineering, Exxon, and GDS Engineers, to name a few.
Buddy married Dorothy Ann Smith of El Campo, Texas on November 25, 1961. They resided in Houston Texas where they had 2 daughters, Robin Pentecost and Cindy (Pentecost) Cartwright. Buddy is preceded in death by both of his parents and his wife, Dorothy Pentecost.
Affectionately referred to by his nickname “Bear”, Buddy was a car, motorcycle, and gun enthusiast. He enjoyed tinkering out in his shop, where he would build various crafts to include parrot décor for his self-designed and constructed “Margaritaville” gazebo. He enjoyed classic country music, was a Jimmy Buffet, Elvis, and Willie Nelson fan and would stop and sit at any open piano and play (by ear) for hours entertaining himself, and anyone else who was there to listen.
Buddy will be missed terribly by his surrogate Grandkids, Blessing & Joey (children of his dear friend Jose), his 8 remaing nieces & nephews, as well as their many children. “Uncle Bud” was a family favorite among his many siblings-in-law as well and will be greatly missed. But he is now lovingly in the hands of his Lord Jesus.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 12pm. St Francis of the City,1135 Jocelyn St, Houston, TX 77023 with a gathering in the fellowship hall to follow.
