

William Robert “Bill” McCall was born November 26,1934 in Montgomery, Alabama, to the parents of Gladys McCall Wooten, and William Bryant McCall. During his childhood, Bill grew up in Red Bay, Florida, farming and attending school in which he graduated from Munson High School in 1953 serving as Class President.
He then joined the Army and was stationed in Fort Myer, Virginia after completing his basic training in Alabama. His assignment was to the 3d Infantry Regiment, which was the oldest Infantry Regiment in the Regular Army. Individuals chosen for this had to possess outstanding mental, moral, and physical qualifications. During this time, he was eventually moved to Fort Lesley J McNair in Washington D.C. where he became a member of the Old Color Guard to President Dwight D Eisenhower. In 1956 he was honorably discharged with two metals, National Defense Service Metal and Good Conduct Metal.
Bill then married Joane R McCall and settled in Pensacola, Florida where he worked for Monsanto Plant for 20 years, where he worked in instrumentation. During this time Bill became part of the baseball team and bowling league which he really enjoyed. In 1978, he moved to Houston, Texas where he ran a valve shop called Gemoco. In 1989, he started Control Valve Services, Inc. working as a remanufacture and repair facility for Fisher Control Valves. Bill was an avid fisherman, farmer, control valve expert, spiritual, and all around calm, peaceful, caring man. His sense of calmness and expert advice was enjoyed by many both in family and business.
In his retirement years he enjoyed living on Toledo Bend in East Texas while fishing, farming, and being a member of the Hemphill Church of Christ. He was very active in his children’s and grandchildren’s lives.
Bill is preceded in death by his son William Darren McCall and stepson Douglas Lloyd Christy, along with his second wife Sharon B McCall, his parents, and siblings Hubert McCall, Vernon McCall, Earl McCall, Adrian McCall, and Ada McCall.
He is survived by his daughters Laura D McCall and Diana J McCall, current wife Maurilia McCall Cantu, first wife Joane R McCall, siblings Duke McCall and Dot Lindsey, Grandchildren Alicia B. Sukiennik-Tomlin and husband Justin Sukiennik, Mallory E. Tomlin, Katie A. Tomlin, C. Tyler Tomlin, William Travis Tomlin, and Great Granddaughter River Rose Sukiennik, along with many nieces, nephews and many cherished family members.
Bill McCall was a fighter and never gave up; however, his love of God gave him peace for what was next to come.
