

Darvel Lynn Tidwell passed away August 30, 2017 at Twin Cities Community Hospital in Templeton, California. He was born September 27, 1939 in Altus, Oklahoma to Audrey Leola Tidwell (Anderson) of Lawton, Oklahoma and William Walter Tidwell of Point, Texas. The family relocated to Salinas, California when Darvel was three years old. By the time he was in grade school they had settled in Paso Robles. Darvel lived in Paso until 1957 when he joined the Navy and was stationed in San Diego. The summer of 1958 an 18 year old Darvel met a 17 year old Margaret Marquez. They were married January 3, 1959 in Paso Robles. Later that year Darvel was discharged from the Navy, and he and Margaret made their home in Paso Robles where together they raised four daughters. Darvel will be remembered as a loving family man who was always generous, supporting and gentle. Darvel was a sociable guy who was a bit rebellious and well known for his witty and prankful humor. He was an avid fisherman and an "Expert" squirrel hunter. He loved riding in his Jeep, smoking his Pall Malls, pocket knives, Hank Williams, Harley Davidson, crude jokes, his coin collection and the rare two dollar bills he always had available to give the kids. His memory will be cherished by his loved ones. Darvel is survived by his wife of 58 years Margaret, his brother Tom (Betty) Davis of Medford, Oregon, sister Mary Zevenburgen of Houston, Texas, sister in law Nancy Tidwell, brother in law Keith Tarwater both of Paso Robles, daughters Vicki Lynne (James) Alexander of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Terry Ann Dahme, Alice Marie Tidwell, and Crissy (Darvell) Cullors all of Paso Robles, both of his four legged sons, Toby and Bugsy, ten grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews all of whom he loved dearly. Darvel was preceded in death by his parents, William and Audrey, in laws Antonio and Fermina Marquez, brothers William (Billy) Tidwell and Carl Davis, sister Marcy Tarwater, several brothers and sisters in law, and his lifelong friend and fishing partner Bob Kinkaid.
