

Longtime Paso Robles resident Joan Catherine deRegt passed away peacefully in her home on April 14th 2022. Joan was born in San Francisco California on August 20, 1930. She was the only child of Herbert and Laura Fennimore. Joan being an only child spent much of her childhood in the home of Guido and Madeleine Murnig, they had two children Guido and Stephanie. They became not only role models for Joan but her closest family. Joan's family still has a very close relationship with their children. In 1935 Joan met the “cute little girl” next door, Nomma Dianne Madu. Joan and Dianne were the best of friends for 87 years. Joan graduated High School from Saint Rose Academy in 1947. She went to work for Standard Oil Library and worked for them until 1954. While working for Standard Oil Library she met her soon to be husband John(Jack) deRegt. Jack and Joan were married in 1954. They had Seven Children. They raised their children in Menlo Park/Atherton. This is where Joan was a full time homemaker.
She spent many hours with the Peninsula Volunteers Association. Jack and Joan spent countless Summers and Winters at Lake Tahoe with Family and Friends. If you asked Joan her favorite vacation destination would always be the Hawaiian Islands. Joan was an avid horsewoman. She became very passionate about showing horses in the late 1980’s. She moved to Paso Robles in 1992 to pursue her dream. Joan’s world truly revolved around her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Joan is survived by her sons Kenneth (Allison)Thomas ,James ,and Keith. Her daughters Lauren and Mary. She had ten grandchildren Eric, Ryan, Scott, Chris, Bryan, Taylor, Christian, Kevin, Carson, Katelyn and four Great grandchildren Pennelope, Willow, Aria, and Kenzie She is preceded in death by both of her parents and her son Chris Anthony.
There will be a Mass at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church on Monday May 16th at 11 am. Reception will follow after service on the patio at 12:30 In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Joan deRegt Scholarship Award.
