Christopher Michael Gosnell, 71, of Pataskala, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at his residence with his loving wife. He leaves behind a legacy of devotion, kindness, and laughter that will be cherished by all who knew him.
He was born on March 4, 1954 in Columbus, OH, a son to the late William and Vera (Weaver) Gosnell. For 48 years, Chris shared a loving marriage with his wife, Jill, who was his partner in every sense of the word. Together they built a family that was the center of his life. Chris was a proud father to his son, Adam and wife Carina, and his daughter, Ashley and husband Adam Shipley. He was a devoted grandfather—known affectionately as “Papole”—to Marty, Alyssa, Jake, and Emma, each of whom brought him endless joy and pride. He is survived by his brothers Ron and Don (Patti) Biga, and many loved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister, Debbie Freese.
For 35 years, Chris dedicated his professional life to Grange Insurance, where he served as Graphic Arts Supervisor. During the evenings he supported his wife’s family business, Ryder Engraving. His work reflected the creativity, care, and commitment that defined him both professionally and personally.
An adventurer at heart, Chris loved hiking, camping, boating, and skiing. He especially treasured time spent sharing these passions with his family and friends. Known for his joking nature, his friendliness to everyone he met, and his infectious laugh, Chris had a way of making people feel comfortable and welcome. He was a great friend, a steady presence, and someone who brought light and laughter wherever he went.
Above all, Chris will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather, and a man whose warmth and humor touched countless lives. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit lives on in the memories he created and the love he shared.
Honoring the family’s wishes, cremation will take place. A memorial visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, January 19, 2026 at KAUBER-FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, 289 S. Main St., Pataskala, OH 43062.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Rd. SE., Newark, OH 43055 in Chris’ memory.
