David Leon Spivey, 81, of Pataskala, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at his residence. He was born on June 7, 1936 in Sanford, NC, a son to the late James and Martha (Shield) Spivey. David enlisted and served for 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant. During his enlistment, David served in the Vietnam War. As a proud veteran, he was a mentor to all that he came in contact with and was well respected amongst his peers. David is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Coledda; children, Jeannie (David) Spencer, Michael (Michele) Spivey and Lisa Spivey; grandchildren, Travis Spencer, Brooke Long, Lora Spencer, Tyler Spivey and Nick Spivey; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Lucille, Minnie Mae and Lester and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his siblings, J.W. and Ruby. Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at KAUBER-FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, 289 S. Main St., Pataskala, OH 43062. Visitation will be one hour prior to the start of service. Interment will follow at Pataskala Cemetery.
