

Eugene “Gene” J. Vanover, 69, of Pataskala, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 6, 2025, after a courageous battle with leukemia, with his devoted wife and best friend of 44 years by his side.
Born on December 30, 1955, in Columbus, Ohio, Gene was preceded in passing by his parents, Argielly Whitt Vanover and Clovis W. Vanover. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Linda; children, Emily and Charles (Nicole); cherished grandchildren, Lola Graham, Benjamin, and Alexander Vanover; along with a host of family members, friends, and loved ones.
Gene was a proud father and grandfather who found immense joy in spending time with his family. He was an avid fisherman who loved being on the water, appreciating the beauty of nature in every moment. A firearms enthusiast, he enjoyed passing down his knowledge and skills to his grandchildren. A true patriot, Gene was always ready to share fascinating facts and insights with those around him.
After dedicating 25 years of service to the Licking County Highway Department, Gene retired to enjoy the things he loved most. His legacy of love, wisdom, and unwavering strength will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, February 13, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home, 289 South Main St, Pataskala, Ohio 43062, with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM. Gene will be laid to rest at Jersey Cemetery in Pataskala.
