Geardine Schaffner

Geardine (Blake) Schaffner, 76, of Pataskala, passed away peacefully from this life Saturday, May 9th at her home surrounded by her loving children. Geardine “Gert” was born in Elkton, KY on October 9, 1938, a daughter to the late Edgar and Myrtle (Rager) Blake of Elkton, KY. Gert is also preceded in death by her husband and soul-mate, Ralph Schaffner; brother, Donald Blake; step-brother, Rickey Blake and special friend, Bruce Baird. She is survived by her four children, Timothy (Cindy) Ellsworth of Pataskala, OH, Pamela Ellsworth of Raleigh, NC, Kimberly Ellsworth Estepp (Merle) of Pataskala, OH and Christopher Ellsworth of Pataskala, OH; step-sisters, Sis Kirkman and Carol Blake; step-brother, Alfred Blake all of Elkton, KY; six grandchildren, Ian, Andrew, Kaleb, Katrina, Kyle and Callie; 7 great-grandchildren; extended family, cousins and many special friends. Gert was a devoted and loving mother and wife. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy which she loved unconditionally; she was a wonderful and faithful friend to many. She practiced Real Estate in the Pataskala area for over 30 years; she loved gardening, decorating, fishing the Big O in Okeechobee, FL, and spending time with her family and friends. Gert was also a member of Hosanna Lutheran Church. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the “Angels” of Hospice of Central Ohio. Friends may call on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at KAUBER-FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, 289 S. Main St., Pataskala, OH, 43062. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Brett Russo officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estate. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Rd., Newark, OH, 43055 in Gert’s memory.
