Mary Elizabeth Stone

She was born on June 17, 1925, the last of five children to Mildred and James Steele in Wilksville, Ohio. She graduated from high school, one of eleven students, and was employed in support of the World War II effort. A true “Rosie the Riveter”, Mary worked at Timken Roller Bearing Company in Columbus. She soon met the love of her life, Warren Stone. They were married on June 25, 1945 and were together for 61 years until Warren’s death in 2006. After farming with Warren’s cousin for the first several years of their marriage, Mary and Warren built their own home brick-by-brick and raised their family in Dublin, Ohio. Mary was an avid bird watcher, painter, crafter, loved her flowers, reading, and sewing everything from a pillow case to a wedding dress with ease and confidence.

Mary and Warren moved from Dublin to Pataskala in 1978 when the Sawmill Road area became commercial and they preferred to continue living the country lifestyle they so enjoyed. Their 2 ½ acre wooded lot became an adventurous wonderland for all of their grandchildren and also featured Warren’s hand-built windmill that served as a landmark for their many friends and visitors.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband Warren, son David and grandson Jason Stone.

She is survived by her children Joyce Snyder, Janis (Maury) Topolosky, and Vicki Stone; beloved grandchildren John Snyder, Scott (Patricia) Snyder, Sara Topolosky Harkins, Jenny Topolosky and Michael Stone; great grandchildren Caitlin and Robyn Snyder, Jacob and Shira Harkins, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. Her friendly nature, honesty, and kindness will be missed.

Friends may call at the Kauber-Sammons Funeral Home, 289 South Main Street in Pataskala on Monday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. where funeral services will be held on Tuesday December 16, 2014 at 11:00 am with burial at Glen Rest Memorial Estate, 8029 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg with Pastor Calvin Alexander officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio Foundation, 2269 Cherry Valley Road, Newark Ohio 43055 in memory of Mary and Warren Stone.
