

Ronald Leo Strahler, 73, of Pataskala, Ohio was born November 25, 1946 in Marietta, Ohio went peacefully to rest following a long illness on June 8th, 2020. Ron and his wife Diana (Cleveland) Strahler would have celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on July 4th, 2020. Ron was the proud father of two sons, Kyle (Jenny) of Worthington, Ohio and Keith (Cindy) of Millersport, Ohio. Ron’s pride and joy were his grandchildren Bella, Rex, Lyla, and Kaitlyn. His children and grandchildren brought Ron great pleasure and pride. He loved to plan family gatherings and vacations. Ron was the oldest son of Howard and Grace Strahler. Preceded in death by his mother and father and brother-in-law Dave Davis, all from Marietta, Ohio. Survived by two brothers, Tim (Laurie) Strahler and Toby Strahler and seven sisters, Kathy Lough, Jenny Strahler, Cindy Davis, Sheila (Craig) Lovett, Lorinda (Jeff) Lang, Tina (Duane) Duff, Natalie (Randy) Lowe from Williamstown, W. VA., plus numerous nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Ron served proudly in the US Army from 1968-1971 with 13 months in Vietnam in the 101st Airborne Division. Ron was Honorably Discharged with the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 1960 Device, Good Conduct Medal (1st Award), Air Medal, two Overseas Bars and expert status (M14 and M16). Ron was discharged with the rank of Sergeant in the U.S. Army. Ron served admirably finding each aspect of military service as a learning experience. Ron Strahler was an entrepreneur and co-founder of the Inkwell Printing Company. Under Ron’s leadership, the Inkwell grew to a national franchise with over 100 stores from Florida to Oregon. Ron graduated from Franklin University with an Associate’s degree in Architectural Engineering and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration. Ron frequently spoke at the Franklin University Master’s Program. Ron loved to design and build anything. He helped designing the kitchen for the first Wendy's on East Broad Street. Ron has helped many friends build hunting cabins, storage facilities, printing shops, remodeling project and so much more. Ron had a love for sports and primarily football. He coached his sons’ sports programs or he was rooting in the stands. An avid Buckeyes fans. He worked at the gate for many years and enjoyed later by TV. His family, friends, and business were his passions. Ron was always laughing, telling a story or joke. Ron could always bring a smile to your face. May he now be at rest telling stories. Ron, Dad, Papaw, Ronnie, Bum or whatever you called him, he will be missed. Honoring Ron’s wishes, he will be cremated and interred at Fields of Honor Cemetery in Canal Winchester at 3:00PM on June 17, 2020. All of Ron’s family and friends are welcome to attend this open-air event with military honors. A celebration of his life will be scheduled for the Fall when Ron’s love of life, family and friends can be celebrated with a larger gathering. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Breathing Association, 788 Mount Vernon Ave., Columbus, OH 43203, the VFW or the American Legion in Ron’s memory. Ron was a life-time member of Baltimore VFW Post 3761; life-time member of Pickerington American Legion Post 283; and member of Isle of Palms VFW Post 3137 on Isle of Palms, South Carolina.
