Russell Augustus Hupp Jr.

Russell Augustus Hupp Jr., 65, of Pataskala passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023. He was born March 18, 1958 in Newark, Ohio to the late Dolores and Russell Hupp Sr. Russell was a graduate of the 1976 class of Newark High School. He retired after 32 hardworking years from the Ohio Department of Taxation. Russell was a gifted musician, he enjoyed playing his trumpet in the Licking County 4H Band, and teaching students to play the trumpet for over 20 years at Licking Heights Schools. Russell was an active and faithful member of the Pataskala United Methodist Church, and volunteered with numerous church programs. He also loved to spend time with his family, taking care of many beloved pets over the years, cheering on the OSU football team, and working on cars. Russell is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Susanne “Susie” Hupp; children, Renée (Jason Dillon) Hupp and Brian (Kristin) Hupp; grandchildren, Nolan Hupp and Olive Hupp; brother, Robert (Karen) Hupp; nieces, Vicky, Lisa, and Julie; nephew, Rick; and a host of other family, friends, and loved ones. In addition to his parents, Russell is preceded in death by his brother, Dale Hupp. Family and friends may call from 2-6pm Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home 289 S. Main St. Pataskala, OH 40362. A service will be held at 10am Monday, August 21, 2023 at the Pataskala United Methodist Church 458 S. Main St. Pataskala, OH 43062, with Pastor Carl Redding officiating. Burial is to follow at Pataskala Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Russell’s name to the Licking County 4H Band, 771 E Main St # 103, Newark, OH 43055.
