Shirley Jean Garcia

Shirley Jean Garcia 80, left the bonds of this earth, to join her Heavenly Father in heaven, on August 9, 2023, after a long and courageous battle with heart disease. She was born March 29, 1943 in Bowling Green, Ohio, to Roy and Betty (Palmer) Phillis. She married her High school sweetheart, Luis Garcia October 1, 1960, at St. Michael the Arch Angel Catholic church, and he survives. Shirley is a member of St. Pius Catholic church. Shirley retired from J.C. Penny Co. after a long career, serving as department manager, buyer, and store manager. She was an avid skier, bowler, swimmer and golfer, but most of all she was a great mom, grandma, nana, and great-grandma. She is survived by her 4 children, Elizabeth Miller, (Harry), Theresa Bailey, (Tim), Rebecca Kruse, (Bernie) Michael, (Annie) Garcia. She leaves behind 8 grandchildren Jason, Justin, Mathew, Adam, Alex, Ian, Jenna and Lauren; and 8 great grandchildren who all loved her very much. Many thanks to OSU Ross Heart hospital and all the Doctors and nurses for the wonderful care she received there for the past six years. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Monday, August 14, 2023 at Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home 289 S. Main St., Pataskala, OH 43062. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at St. Pius X church, 1051 S. Waggoner Rd., Reynoldsburg, OH 43068. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for donations to be made to The American Heart Association.
