Starr E. McClure

Starr E. McClure, 49, of Johnstown, OH (formerly from Youngstown, OH), passed away on February 25, 2020 at Mount Carmel East Hospital. She was born May 3, 1970. Starr is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James “Jay” R. Slack; parents, Jean Starr McClure and Larry Dean McClure; father-in-law, Ithel D. “Buck” Slack and aunts, Marjorie Starr and Marie McClure Chesser. She is survived by her mother-in-law, Sara E. Ryan Slack; sisters-in-law, Amanda (Aaron) Bruckelmeyer, Julie (Shawn) Tuthill and Sara (Kris) Haley; brother-in-law, Randall (Melissa) Slack; cousin, Tina (Mark) Heatley; aunt, Kathryn McClure and many other cousins; close friend, Jeanette Ellisor; beloved furbabies, Tinkerbelle and Bootsie; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is a graduate of Canfield High School and attended Youngstown State University. Starr was most at home when surrounded by music. She loved the theater and musicals and found joy in sharing her talents by singing and performing. She spent many years working and performing at the Youngstown Playhouse in Youngtown, OH and considered it a second home. She lived a life of kindness to others and had a talent of accepting all for who they are and helping everyone feel safe. She is also a strong defender of animals and loved doting on her own furbabies as well as those of her family and friends. Honoring Starr’s wishes cremation will take Place. A private interment at Pataskala Cemetery will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cat Welfare Association, 741 Wetmore Rd., Columbus, OH 43214, in Starr’s memory.
