Tom Dixon, 88, of Pataskala, left this world peacefully on March 12 surrounded by family. Tom was born November 26, 1936 in Dekalb County, Indiana to Fred and Pauline (Yoke) Dixon. Tom's father showed cattle for a living so he lived in many places as a youth. His teenage years were spent in Johnstown, from where he graduated in 1954. Many stories of orneriness have been told over the years.
Soon after he married Karen Ellinger and moved to Pataskala. There he found he had a love for "dirt". He had a definite gift, he can look at land, and see a vision, a better look.
Tom's big opportunity came when his father-in-law wanted to build a golf course. Two years of hardwork and the dream became a reality. Broadview Golf Course was opened in 1969.
In 1968 he purchased a small farm in Millersport. Another love of his was farming, he loved to watch his crops grow, and took pride in his prime soil. He will always be remembered for loud pipes, fat tires, and a diamond deck. He loved to "Dixonize" anything he owned. Tom enjoyed going to Columbus Motor Speedway and Eldora Speedway for dirt track racing, and NTPA tractor pulls at Bowling Green and Louisville. Dixon Excavating has been a staple in Licking and surrounding counties for over 50 years. Many jobs turned into lifelong friendships.
A loving father and pillar of strength and support to his family; he leaves behind his children, Susan (Russ), Jennifer, and Brian (Genie); his grandchildren, Amanda (Brian) Lynd, Adrianne (Joe) Seaman, Jason Davis, Alexis and Alex Piciucco, and Gabriel and Alaina Dixon; his great-grandchildren, Julia, Gwen, Waylon, Kelsey, Regan, Jack, Miranda, Jordan, and Autumn; special friend and buddy, Vicky. In addition to his parents, Tom is preceded in death by his sisters, Marilyn Ulrich and Cynthia Dixon; and best buddy Spike.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at William's Farm Event Center, 8405 York Rd SW., Pataskala, OH 43062.
