Alice Lynn Prouty Root, 87, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord in the early hours of Saturday August 13 at the home of her daughter and son in law, Mark and Sue Thompson, in Newnan, Georgia . Alice has resided in Newnan for the last 17 years having spent many years raising her family in Glendale Mo and 30 years in Glen Ellyn, Il, prior to moving to the Newnan area.
Alice was born August 8, 1935 in Lubbock Texas to Parker and Fay Prouty. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, Jack W Root and her sister, Joan.
After high school, she went on to get her degree in English at Lindenwood College in St Charles Missouri. While there, she met her one true love, Jack. They married a few months later, before her senior year of college, on Sept 6, 1956.
She loved; family, friends, serving and encouraging others, cooking, Bible studies, travel, hosting others in her home, helping those in need, decorating, music, playing the piano and lots of reading (especially the newspaper). Alice always put Christ first in her life and that shone through in the way she loved to share that news of Jesus love and to be the first to serve others.
She lived an ordinary life that had an extraordinary impact on the lives of so many, in ways she would never realize this side of heaven.
Alice is survived by her 3 children; Scott (Donna) Root of Cincinnati , OH, Elizabeth (Tom) Steffan of Houston, Texas , and Susanna (Mark) Thompson of Newnan, Ga, and 5 grandchildren; Alexandra Root, Cassandra Root, Parker Steffan, Ryan Thompson and Madeline Thompson. Also, her amazing caregivers that became family, Tina Halm and Alison Wallace, her wonderful Crossroads Church Bible Study, Serenity Sisters and dear family friends Dr. Bruce and Randa Rottschafer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions In Alice’s memory may be directed to the Go Church Legacy fund. 100% of those proceeds will be given to ministries all over the world to continue the work Alice gave her life to, serving those in need and sharing the love of Jesus. https://tithe.ly/give?c=704969?giving_to=Legacy
