Dixie was born and raised in Decatur, Georgia on December 31, 1947, only child to Abner and Dixie Pitts. In Decatur, Dixie married the love of her life, Ron O’Dell, in a small ceremony on December 22, 1982. She spent much of her time reading, antiquing, and cultivating her orchid collection. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Ron, and her two children R.J. and Kimberly.
On Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 11a.m., her family will be holding a memorial service in the Chapel of the Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home in Peachtree City.
